yes, and if you gut it it will still look like the cat is there (in case you get pulled over by an ******* cop) but running a pipe will probably flow better since when you gut it its very hard to get every bit of the stuff inside out of it.

yup..my cat is gutted and sleeved (straight hollow pipe running through the stock cat body)..sounds bad @ss and definitely adds power

I'm sure it does more for you while spraying, to me I don't think its worth it for a couple of hp.

It really isn't all that hard to get all of it out. It can be a little frustrating, but keep poking at it with a pry-bar and it will all break up and fall out. Definitely a cheap way to add power.

Yeah, no restriction at all. The one thing though is that you will lose a lot of bottom end and gain a lot of top end. That's why I like the high flow cats also. They are a good mix between the two. You will gain both with a high-flow cat.

Yes it's illegal, but depending on your locale, there are ways around it where you cannot be caught. I don't believe in "high-flow" cats, I think it's more marketing than anything else. There is a lot of power to be gained by getting rid of the cat. I picked up two tenths when I got rid of mine, and I also picked up another two tenths when I disabled the COT in the VCM which dumps a bunch of fuel to save the cat from burning up. So a very worthwhile and cost effective mod in my opinion.

BTW just so you know, if you gut the cat or even some high flow cats it will set off your SES light.

Unless you buy an o2 sim or do some sort of custom computer tuning to get rid of the code(which I believe you will have to convert to a 97 PCM since its not availible on your car)
