cut-out after y-pipe = open y-pipe?

im wondering if a cut-out installed just after the y-pipe would give about the same result as just running an open y-pipe??..i am asking because Magnus saw a gain of 2 tenths by running an open y-pipe..but i really dont want to remove my entire exhaust..thanks!

It wouldn't be exactly the same because the air is being redirected instead of just flowing straight out of the y-pipe but I'm sure you'd gain from it regardless. Remember it's going to be VERY noisy in the driver's seat though since the exhaust will be exiting right beside you [img]smile.gif[/img]

thats ok because it would only be open at the track..i already have a hollow cat, 3" cat back exhaust, and hollow muffler and DAMN its loud lol ..now im wondering if he noticed this gain going from a stock exhaust to open y-pipe..or an after market/exhaust like mine to an open y-pipe..cuz i might have already got this gain from my exhaust mods
