Hi I have 2001 firebird with the y87 package.
I recently bought a 3"flowmaster cat back along with a 3 high flow cat, 2 days later after it was installed i got the check engine light code. Well its saying its my cat. So Is that code afecting the performance of my car? , is it going to safe mode?

This are my other upgrades, K&N aircharger intake system, dry Nitrous kit(40 shot)i Just bought a set of ceramic coated headers from rk sport, and im waiting for 3800 performance.com to start selling the turbo kit for my car

It is extremely common to get a code for a bad cat after you install a high flow cat. The high flow actually flows so much that it doesn't really do as good of a job as stock, so the computer thinks the stock one is broken.

It will not cause your car to drive any different. It doesn't actually do anything besides turn on the SES light. You can get an O2 simulator to get rid of that as well. See the sticky post at the top of the Intake/Exhaust forum for info on a sim for your car.

yep. sim it. or tune it. if you are going to keep moding your car like you ssy...turbo...then consider tuning software. i know hptuners can block that code from coming up....software sim...rther than hardware sim.
