I'm pretty sure that mine was a 2.5" converter... i took the old one, cut off the rear mounting flange and just reinstalled it after welding the flange to the new cat. if you can weld teh old pipe to the new cat that's prolly the way to go. if you take out the cat all together, you lose some torque and make your car sound a lot more raspy.
