• SLP Cold Air Induction

I just recently ordered the SLP CAI for my car (97 v6 Camaro) and I was just wondering if any of you have it? if so did you see a big difference???

I know intakes on those ricers make a HUGE difference, does this hold true with the Camaro/Firebird???

If you have an exhaust system or headers you might see more but you'll notice a little pull. Just make sure you get those filters on tight, one of mine fell off and gave me big problems because I never knew it was off so I was driving around without a filter for I don't know how long.

How much did you pay for your CAI? Is it easy to install?

I have the SLP CAI on my '96 Bird, and noticed a slight gain. It's not going to be anything like running a supercharger, but you'll notice your car running a little quicker...especially on your mid-range and top-end. It works best with a free-flowing exhaust, so if you have that...you'll notice more of a gain. it's pretty simple to install, just read the instructions...takes about 30 minutes. Hope this helps.

Do you have a catback? I'd say probably a 4-6 hp increase with just the CAI, maybe 12-15ish with catback.

you should feel it in upper/mid range. atleast thats when I did.. :D

30 minutes to put on? it took me like 2 hours. i had to jack up hte car and take the fron left wheel off to get to the filters. it was worth it though i love my SLP CAI!

you don't have to take the wheel off, just take off the little plastic box in front of the wheel well, it's the box that leads to your turn signal light. I'd say you'ld get 5-12HP whether you have exhaust or not.

                        Thats what im sayin!

30 mins, are u nuts? Took me well over 2 hrs and also needed a buddy to help me out.

Yes u can put the filters on w/out jacking up the car on but it SOOO much easier if u just jack it up, more room to work w/.

Also took me about 30 just to get the damn sensor out of the stock elbow!

If it took u only 30 mins, dude congrats! took me a lot longer

You'll notice a little pull, not anything huge. Notice more when its colder outside.

Will make ur exhaust louder also.

                        SHould get better gas milage.

Get mod to start off w/ before u hit the big stuff :D

i dont think the intake would give you 19 hp. what i think is right is if you take half of what they say it makes. so it would be arout 9-10 hp if that.

The 19 HP is probably achievable, but you're talking about a V8 with mods. The SLP looks the best and I think IMO is the best. Specially if you cut a whole in the plastic box and put a scoop to collect the air, very effective. If you look at the SLP intake and look at the K&N it's easy to see that the SLP is much smoother. There's no crimp in the middle like the K&N has. It's just two smooth rounded pipes, it looks better, and I've never heard or seen a K&N on a V6 but I'd bet money that it doesn't sound like the SLP intake. The SLP intake sounds like you have a minny huricane under your hood, very pimp. I was over at Granatelli Motorsports the other day and I was talking with the head guy and we went to fit a STB on my car and he asked me what my intake was, he seemed very impressed.
