I have an 01 Z28 exhaust on my 94 3.4L. The I pipe on the 01 was shorter than I needed so a little fabrication was needed to mate it to the cat. I believe the 96 LT1's had dual cats so that I-pipe will probably be a little short as well. And the driver's side hanger needed to be switched because a different style was used. If you are just doing the muffler, then the hanger is probably your only concern. Oh, and the inlet is 2 3/4" instead of 2 1/4" on the v6, so you will need to adapt that too.
I like the sound, just don't rev it too high. Sounds great from idle to 3000, but above that, its all Uncle Ben's. :D Rice with an American twist!! :D Its not too loud, but it is more noticable than the stock system. I didn't notice much performance gain, but for $50 I got a sound and looks upgrade, so I am pleased. Plus, I am still running the stock intake, so there may be more potential there. The system was good enough to flow ~300hp on the Z! How many miles are on the 96? Is it still in good shape?

Ive got a Z28 muffler and tips on my 95 3.4 Camaro and it sounds pretty good at idle, not really loud, but noticable rumble. It actually sounds meaner down low than my 00 3.8 Firebird with a stock Formula muffler and tips.
any performance gains? Sound si not my big emphasis, I jsut wondered how load it was. As long as it is quieter then no I-pip\muffler, it should be ok.
