Find the magnaflow website, and get the part # 940009. It's 3" in and 3" out, and fits nicely into our stock exhaust systems. All you will need to do is find a 3" to a 2 1/2" reducer so the converter will bolt up to the rest of your exhaust going back towards the muffler.
Works great, and I have yet to see a code because of the converter.
you said at start of post something about SLP loudmouth 3in/3out... If you mean you oredered a V8 Loudmouth (3" S pipe...full 3" exhaust system ) then you will not need a 3" to 2.5" reducer.
Tell us a little more about what exactly you have ordered as far as cat back and we can tell you more specificaly what you will need.
grayman...sorry i wasnt more precise, yes i ordered the SLP loudmouth v8 system, part #31042A - http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=31042A the system is 3 in/3 out...like i saisd i want the magnaflow carsound cat, just need to know which one to order...can you clarify for me the difference between the OBDII cats and the universals? is there a difference in performance/better flowability? will one throw a SES code whereas the other will not? also, I have a 2001 camaro...need to know if i need a cat with the 02 bung. hope this clears things up a bit...please get back to me and include part #'s when replying (converters link - in the 1st posting on this thread) THANKS!

Ok, the LM you ordered is for a car that came from factory with welded y pipe to cat - welded cat to S pipe and then a band clamp from S pipe to mid pipe. So, your kit will arrive minus an S pipe. It will start with a reducer on the mid pipe to change the stock v8 ID S pipe end into the 3" mid pipe.
Therefore you will need one of the installation kits. They are listed on the linked page you includeded in above post. I 'think' you will want the second one... # 30045. Confirm with them what the kit includes. You are looking for a 3" S pipe so as to mate with the cat back you bought. I don't know what the post S pipe to coverted ID mid pipe of the catback you bought will be...
I have a magnaflow/carsound 94039 3x3 with rear O2 sensor boss. I have full 3" system now and get the SES code. I plan on overiding code with HPTuners. you do not need a cat with air tube as you have an A4.
The installation kit will have a flanged S pipe...cut off the flange and your new cat will slip right over the S pipe.
double check which instalaton kits provide you with what parts. I don't think either of them come with an O2 sensor in the S pipe.
Maybe wait until you have the main catback and see what all is there before ordering parts.
If it is not too late...stop the ordeer and get a catback system for 94 v8. Those come with S pipe and stuff.
When you change to 3" system you will throw ses code no matter what cat you have. dont count on not throwing the code...it is most likely.
