  • Z28 take off

So i know that SS take off offers a good amount of gain and what not. But i have heard some people complaining about the sound a little, and i am really looking for a mild sound with some preforamnce gains. I am not affraid of my car being loud...that isn't a problem, i just don't want a rice or rasp sound, so i was wondering how the Z28 sounds? Will that give me any perfomance gains? What is the size of the tubbing on the piping of Z28 exhaust?
So if i am just looking for an exhaust that is giving me some more sound and more performance but no rice at all, is z28 a good option or is that just a waist?
    PS-5hp for 100bucks isn't a waist to me.

Go with the SS...I have it and it sounds nice. It does rasp a little when you rev it at idle, but no where near as much as aftermarket systems. The SS adds about 10 hp the Z28 probably about 5. Basically it comes down to noise and power. Less noise 5 hp or a little more growl and 10 hp. I chose 10 hp and some more sound. Of course you're right, the Z28 muffler will rasp a little less.

By the way...I had a 1998 M6 LS1 Trans Am with the stock exhaust (same as Z28) and even on the V8 it was pretty quiet.

I have a WS6 muffler and it is great. No drone and little to no rasp under load. Granted the thing will rasp if i rev it in neutral but its a great exhaust setup.

I'd say you try a borla exhaust with a caddillac cat convcerter, thats what i have on my camaro it it works just great for emissions and high flow racing.

The z28 take off is pretty quiet. Even with a cam, headers, and no cat. The I pipe is 2.75 inch.

Are you running the Z28 take off? I looked at your website, it says you are running a GT cam. Are you running the GT1 or the GT2? Cause i am going to be installing the GT1 and i want an exhaust that will sound nice, but not get loud once i have that cam in there, and even keep the option of getting headers open cause like i said i really don't want something loud and i know that once i have a cam and headers stuff gets crazy loud.
