• K&N filter cleaning?

What is the process involved? I know you have to buy some oil to re-oil the filter... anyone know how much that costs?

Also, my filter is pretty dirty as it is... would driving at 70-100% throttle send dirt into my engine?

I am planning on getting a real intake (I have a home made one right now) at the end of February anyways.

You have to buy the K&N Filter Recharger system. It consists of a cleaner and an oil to re-oil your filter.

Would the K&N Recharger work with a Moroso filter like mine? I mean, it's purple like the K&N one, and it says its reusable. Moroso doesn't sell any cleaner.

i think it's 15$ for the K&N oil, you have to clean the filter with a spray include on the box, dry the filter and then re-oil. it took me almost 2 days to do that because suposedly you have to let the filter dry before to put the oil on it. you gonna see that on the instruction manual included in the box too.
if you have enough oil on your filter then you shouldn't get problems driving your car.

$15 isn't bad at all... I thought it would be close to $40 or something.

My filter is just black from dirt on some areas... I just don't want the engine to take in any of that stuff.

So does AutoZone ($10) and the whole process took me about 10-15 minutes. Shake the filter dry before you just let it sit there.

I've seen it as low as $8.99 at Discount Auto Parts.

Keep in mind the oil they use is red - and therefore the oil stains the fabric red. IF you have a Holley filter for example (me) use the holley stuff to make your filter blue :D

Thunderracing sells the holley stuff.

My friend's older brother... he kept it when he sold his 3.4 and it just sat in his back shed. I'll be selling it when I get my headers and catback setup in the summer
