  • Mystery Pipe! please help!

In my other thread "attempted header install" you can read about how hard it is to put headers on a 10 year old car complete with rusty bolts.

after days of fighting, i finally got both headers on the car, but i have a problem:
in the passenger side, there is a pipe that threaded into the stock manifold right beside the EGR. it took a 7/8 wrench to get it off. i took it out and after i put the new header on, there is only a place for the EGR and the O2 sensor. what am i supposed to do with this pipe? is it important? if not i am just going to cap it off and run it like that.

it shows that you have the EGR bolted to the header but not that pipe. what did you end up doing with it?

i would REALLY appreciate a quick reply from anyone who has put headers on a 3.4 about what to do with that stupid pipe. because that is the only thing thats keeping me from finishing this project.
    thanks alot

i'm not sure what pipe you're talking about. i ended up giving up and letting a shop finish the job. i'll take a look and see if i see a pipe just chillen by itself in that area.

I don't have headers, but I read in prior 'header install' posts that most people blocked that hole with a cap.

haha, im doin that now, i believe it's the air pump, more of the emissions poop, i couldnt get it loose with a 7/8 so i cut the pipe and capped it, dont think we really need it, lol
