  • slp cai + whisper lid question...

i just bought an slp cold air intake... hasn't come yet. my question is, if i were to buy a whisper lid in addition to this, would there be any more noticable gains? is it worth spending the second hundred bucks to complete my intake system? any inputs greatly appreciated. thanks.

    Rick M.

You'll notice a really good sound difference with the whisper lid, as well--I really like mine.

The whisper lids allow you to delete your Air baffle as well so it is two mods in one. (smooth lid and smooth bellows)

You have a 2000 year car so the two components are compatible. The slp CAI is a snorkel that mounts under your modified stock airbox. The Whisper lid is a smooth inner surface lid that replaces your stock 'ribbed' lid.

(earlier year cars dont have the modern airbox so they use CAI kits like the K&N FIPK, or the SLP "snorkel down to the drivers side headlight type kit"....but you don't have to worry about that.)

Yea, I know...I just figured it for a ram air since he has the modern airbox. I worded it wrong in earlier post.

ANY earlier year car? Is 2000 the first year, or is it 1998 when they did the body style change?

well. anyway. i love this cai...it was hard to notice the gains at first. but the more i drive it, the more i love my car. i think i will just buy a whisper lid due to what people say about them.
                          -grayman,
i know what they are, and what they look like. my question was just referring to the difference in the HP gain i would experience from the two, and if adding the whisper lid as a second intake mod would be less effective.

I noticed a difference in performance when I added these mods to my car. Like they were sayin too, you get ALOT better sound out of it. I actually punched the screen out in front of the MAF in the throttle body too but I don't know if that was a good call. I have heard mixed debates on this subject but i wouldn't recommend doin it.

The whisper lid itself impressed me once I installed it. easy install might I add. Only had part was getting the damn air sensor into that rubber tubing. Also as noted above it removes your air box so its a straigh connection. dropped in the K&N filter and I could both feel and hear the difference.
