Went to the exhaust shop today to get my Z28 catback put on. Forgot about the 02 sensor part of things. So thinking the simulator was my only option, I left, telling them I'd be back when I got the simulator. Having done a search, I noticed that you can get the O2 sensor reinstalled in the I pipe after the cat, by welding the bung back into it (is that right?). Why didn't the shop ask me if I wanted to do that? They said that they hadn't even heard of the simulator, and proceeded to ask me if I wanted to buy a "performance muffler". This made me lose all of my faith in the shop. Help me out please.
the sim is used if u delete the cat. if u put in another exhaust with a cat its better to reuse the stock 02's. the O2's do screw into a bung on the pipe but the o2 sim plug will plug into the wiring harness in place of the 02 sensor and tie off somewhere under the car to keep it from dragging.

If you're running the stock cat, you might as well just get a bung welded in place. If you're going to run no cat or a high flow, you're better off getting an O2 sim since high flow cats can sometimes cause the SES light to come on (inefficient cat code).
