    Matt, thanks for the photo. This looks like it would work fine. I may have to get one of those lids after all. Depends on what I decide to do after I get the supercharger - ram air hood or stock hood. I like that Ultra Z look...

    On the "cheap" comments, hey that's how we experiment and find out things that work (or don't). You know, spend $70 on a fan switch, or do it yourself for $5. That's hod rodding. Guys (and gals) figuring out how to make it better, on a budget.

    Sometimes it pans out, and sometimes it doesn't.

    But I hope we all keep trying things, and learn from each other.

      This is true. The air filter will trap dirt particles that are far smaller than the MAF, but those aren't the particles I'm worried about. The small dirt particles will be carried through the intake, into the cylinder, burned(or not), and go out the exhaust. The bigger chunks would have entered the cylinder and stayed there, scratching the cylinder walls on every stroke. It's all bad, but that's REALLY bad.
