Ok what is the difference between painted and ceramic coated? Sorry If someone said it already I must of missed it. Will the painted ones rust? $179 for a set of headers is a sweet sweet deal. How much performance will this add over our stock headers? At first I thought it was just for one header and i was mad until I read that it was for the set. Im gonna save and buy the set because I'm planning on redoing my exhaust soon anyway.

Nopi told me the Y-pipe is NOT included.... not Pacesetter. ;)

I understand.... I should have asked Pacesetter too when I had them on the phone. I had to hold for 10 minutes before they'd speak to me so I didn't think to ask...

Oh well..... I'll call again in 120 days! :D

Got off the phone with both Nopi and Pacesetter not to long ago.

Pacesetter comments:
3.8 headers are coming out in approximately 8 weeks maybe later due to back orders. Price will be $309.95 which includes Y-pipe. Like someone said earlier the primaries size is 1 1/2" and the collector size is 2 1/2". He did say that they made a batch for what they thought 6 months and they sold them in 2 months and they are also in the process of changing the production sight from Mexico to Phenoix I think he said. Guy talked to me like we were old friends about the 3.4 headers and how the first batch of 3.8 headers sold so quick.

Now Nopi comments:
Thinks they will be coming out in a couple weeks and wanted me to call back to check. $179.49 for the noncoated headers and yes it JUST THE HEADERS. That's pretty much all the guy could tell me about them and didn't seem to want to try to find more information about them.

Personally I'm looking forward to these coming out.

$310 with the Y Pipe! Now, that's what I'm talkin about. It's a good thing I did hold off getting RK Sport Headers.

Technically, mathematically, and theoretically for 6250RPM max RPM of a 3.8L engine, 1.1" Diameter piping per primary is all that is needed. 1.5" is theoretically *good* fo 12,500RPM. So - knowing this - Don't think thats restrictive in the least . These are VERY free flowing headers, probably don't make much backpressure, but they might increase power who knows.

Are you talking about our stock manifolds(2000+)?

In answer to a few questions I saw while reading this...

1) No, the stock Y-pipe won't bolt up to headers.
2) What are the advantages of headers? You'll need them if you're running forced induction (NOS, blower, etc.). Otherwise, there are almost no benefits except being able to change all your spark plugs and wires in 20 min.
3) How hard to install? Worst pain in the friggin arse you can imagine. Well, at least for the '95-'99s because of the way the stock manifolds are designed. Getting those out are more than half the battle. I don't know how hard it would be on a '00+ vehicle. But to put it into perspective, there was a post a week or two ago which read that the guy had just had his headers put on by a shop, and the guy told him that it was harder than putting on the LT1 and LS1 headers, and that he wouldn't ever do it again.
4) $100 is a reasonable price for fabrication of a Y-pipe.

Now that I saw the price of the non-coated headers I'm interested. Installation I'll do myself even though I'll probably be regreting it half way through. Hopefully nopi is just mixed up on their info and it does include Y-pipe. Will a LS-1 or LT-1 Y-pipe fit if modified? Whats the benefit of coated headers? Can't you buy something to coat them yourself like I think someone mentioned?

Coating the headers reduces the interior engine bay heat, keeps em from rusting and makes them look nice, and its just a pretty darn good option.

I wouldnt invest in uncoated headers - not if Im going through all that trouble to install them!

I have seen a set of painted Pacesetter headers on a 3.4L and I have a set of ceramic coated Pacesetters on my 3.4L. There is no comparison in quality between the two. I would spend the extra money 10 more times without question. Ceramic coated is definitely the way to go.

As far as the GP option....I have a friend that works at NOPI. I will call him to see if he MIGHT be able to bend some and give the board members a better deal. I will let you all know what I find out.
