  • Hollowing out cat??

Quick question. I was talking to my friend who owns a 92 rs, and he said i'd get better gains by just hollowing out my stock cat than buying a hi-flo cat. My only concern is emissions. Will it pass with a hollowed cat? will my check engine light come on?

Also, what all do i have to do to hollow it out? or is it pretty self explanatory once i get it off?

Unless you have an O2 sim, your light will come on.
No, you will not pass emissions.

No, you will not see a huge gain over a high flow cat. Just buy a high flow and be done with it. You still get a power gain and you won't be destroying the atmosphere.

basically when you hollow it out there is nothing in there so it will flow better then a high flow cat. the only thing left in just the outer casing ot it. as for passing emision no. without anything inside it there is nothing to controll the emissions. you can bypass the SES light with O2 sims also.

yup, try to stay away from catco cats though, unless you want to replace it again in a year or two.
