I have my adjustable opening piece at second to biggest. At high rpms it seems to get alittle poppy sounding like rice. Is there anything i can do to fix that. I heard if i decrease the opening it will help. Any suggestions appreciated.

That's the same plate I'm using, I noticed a lot more rasp with the largest plate. Switching down to a smaller plate may help, but I don't think you can completely get rid of the raspyness. I played around with mine til I got the best sound. When it warms up I plan on fabricating a bunch of new plates, and do some real experimenting. CAMAROS

you can leave the plate you have in there and just gutt your cat. that will give you a nice low tone and you'll notice a BIG difference in high speed acceleration. my times at the track showed a .3 difference at best after i gutted it. :D i was super happyProject: _*_*_*Knight Ryder*_*_*_
2000 Black chevy camaro
3.8L v6, AT, t-tops
borla adj. catback, gutted cat converter w/O2 sim, whisper intake lid, K&N filter, SLP ram air kit, 160 thermo, JET stage 2 chip, eibach pro kit springs, 1LE aluminum driveshaft, custom red and black interior
14.95 seconds at 90mph in the 1/4
So much Rice...So little time :D:D:D
www.geocities.com\\camarokidd10

I have the ajustible system, I have only used the smallest open plate (probibly 1"open or so) I dont know why the bigest plates have such a small difference to them, I cant see there being that much of a sound difference when they are that much alike.
I was thinking of useing the block off plate and custom making one, any ideas?
I like the setup I have now, although it sounds sick sometimes when wound out.~chris~ 98 Cayenne red Camaro 3800 A4, 3:08, T tops Borla cat-back, wisper lid K&N, Bilstine shocks, Dunlops all around.
AOL IM: chevyboyz24

:D ok, here's where you start. first take it to the muffler shop of your choice. any will do really. But be advised...gutting your catalytic converter WILL void any warrenty you have and it will make your exhaust MUCH louder, also when it comes time for emissions testing your car will need a new cat to replace the gutted one. some people confuse my car for a V8 all the time just from the sound lol but anyways, you have them cut the back part of the cat off (the side that faces the back of the car) and you take a hammer and chizel and you have them crack everything inside the cat and break everything up. after you get a couple good wacks in there, start the car up and blow alllll that crap out (now be careful and stand away from the back of the car lol BIG smoke cloud) repeat this process until the cat is completly empty. After this is done, be sure to take both battery terminals off for at least 10 minutes to reset the PCM. put the battery terminals back on, start her up and enjoy dont be surprised down the road that your SERVICE ENGINE SOON light comes on because your O2 sensors are going nuts! but the trouble codes can always be wiped by using an AUTOTAP or a TECH2 instrument, or just by removing the battery terminals again. hope this helps bro good luckProject: _*_*_*Knight Ryder*_*_*_
2000 Black chevy camaro
3.8L v6, AT, t-tops
borla adj. catback, gutted cat converter w/O2 sim, whisper intake lid, K&N filter, SLP ram air kit, 160 thermo, JET stage 2 chip, eibach pro kit springs, 1LE aluminum driveshaft, custom red and black interior
14.95 seconds at 90mph in the 1/4
So much Rice...So little time :D:D:D
www.geocities.com\\camarokidd10

The full open pops a lot less. And the fully closed plate doesn't pop at all. The middle ones pop a whole lot.
I put the three inch system on mine, so it's got plenty of exhaust even with the fully closed plate on.
Idle sounds awesome with the fully open one. I usually run the closed one.\'98 A4 Camaro v6->v8 conversion, and STS kit next
v6: 13.6 Powerdyne, 13.2 150 shot, 13.8 120 shot, 14.3 85 shot, 15.7 stock
v8(na): 12.18@113, 392rwhp
Moderator on www.mtfba.org and www.frrax.com (Road Race & Autocross)
Car pics, TN Region SCCA

Just get a highflow cat from catco. $50 to your door. It's cheap, good performance and your car won't smell like *** because a gutted cat will  . I have headers and the highflow cat with my borla setup and I experimented and ended up putting the plate with the smallest hole I think. The open plate with headers on the Borla could be heard like a mile away it was so loud. I don't have 1/4 times but i think the plate with the small hole sounds the best and performs the best although the open plate has some killer top end speed, it's like having a cutout on crack Red 1999 Firebird M5
Whisper Lid,Borla Catback,K&N,Dual Friction Center Force Clutch,Hurst Shifter w/Lou\'s Short Stick,!FRA,Suncoast Ramair hood,160 Thermo,!maf,Chrome ZO6 Wheels, Painted Calipers, CIA Headers, Taylor Wires, NGK Spark Plugs, 3\" Catco, Jet Chip Stage II, BMR STB, LCA, PHR, SFC, Fan Switch, FTRA
Old Dyno Numbers: 183 RWHP, 217 RWTRQ
http://community.webshots.com/user/redsixer
