• Is it possible to use a 98 upper intake on a 96?

What all would i need to get this to work on my 96 3.8 camaro? I would like to use the 98 tb and upper intake, is the 98 cable controlled like my 96 or is it computer controlled. I think the 99+ are computer controlled but im not sure. I would like to use a 98 tb so i can use the fast toys ram air do i need to use a different wiring harness? What would be the problems with putting a 98 upper intake on and tb? The 98 tb is straight out right? , or is it angled down like mine? thanks guys

im not sure but the fast toys ram air just cuts a hole near the radiator... the tb has nothing to do with it because it is still a angled tb only the diff is that its connected like a 99+, the 98 is still cable controled tho

For what it would cost to do that, might as well get a ram air hood and a nice ram air setup.

It almost certainly would match up on the engine though if your hellbent on trying it.

Only thing I would worry about would be hood clearance w/ the straight tb vs the angled.

but then, I'm really not sure as to how the tb of the 98 looks. I have a 2001, which is straight & computer controlled.

Go for the hood though. Might be a tad more expensive, but your car would look better with it.

The '98 is angled, and yes it is cable.

I don't know if the electrical hookups are the same, or not... I have a tps on the opposite side from the cable, and a maf sensor on the top of the tb, on my '98.

the reason i dont get the ram air hood that allows for a ram air setup is because there is only one hood that has a ram air box and its teh ugly ultra z hood it looks fugly. well if the tb doesnt matter for the fast toys ram air then why did fast toys email me back and say we cant make a ram air kit for a 96 because of the angled tb, why isnt there a ram air for 96 besides the nasty ultra z crap hood and a homemade one?

the ram air setup for 98+ puts a box in front of the radiator that forces more air into the air box (where the filter sits). pre-98's have the air filter down near the fender on the drivers side. you can't swap to the 98 style on a 96 because there isn't enough hood clearance for the air box to sit above the radiator, so you would end up having to get a new hood anyway to make that work.
you can\'t get off if you don\'t get on

If i would get the new warbird ram air hood that looks like a ws6 hood would i have clearance to use the fast toys ram air?

phil at fasttoys says that there are more reasons why the fast toys ram air wont work on a 96 than besides hood clearance
