• catco for 3.4L w/2.5 inch flowmaster

hey guys and gals, so i have stock headers and y-pipe, and the american thunder cat-back (2.5 inch I-pipe) and i wanna get the catco cataltic converter, here's the problem:

everyone gets the 3 inch, CTO-6007 catco, but i would think that this is too big, as i have the 2.5 inch I-pipe, i can get a CTO-6006 for cheapo, this is the 2.5 inch catco, which to me sounds to be the right one for my set up. here's where it gets interesting, my right exhaust pipe sticks out 1 inch or so too far (i dunno why), and with the catco being shorter than stock, i was thinking this would bring the whole exhaust system towards the front of the car, therefore negating the sticking out pipe.

basically, should i go for the 2.5 inch catco, or get the 3 inch one, am i missing anything here as to why everyone gets the 3 inch one, and would this fix my sticking out pipe problem.

i hope i haven't confused you, and thanks for the help guys and gals

I your cat is going to be welded in then just add the extra bit of exhaust pipe to make it fit. That's how mine is. It's not a catco, but it was a lot shorter than the stock cat. Also my cat is a 3" but that's because that was the only size the exhast shop had in stock. I think a 2.5" will do just fine. 3.4 fbodys seem to lose low end torque once the exhaust gets too big. This is one engine where a little backpressure is a good thing. Unlike my exhaust, but I do plan to add a sc or turbo.
