The screeching sound I was hearing I have pinpointed to something with the exhaust. My friend listened to it and said his g/f's cavalier made the same noise and it was an exhaust baffle that was making the noise. What the heck is an exhaust baffle? And what would I have to do to get this fixed?

Exhaust baffle?

I had a baffle come loose in my muffler, had to have it replaced. Check the pic of the muffler cutout in this link to see baffles. As you can see, they direct the flow of the exhaust stream.
Basically, more baffles = more resistance = quieter sound = more hp loss.
Fewer baffles = less resistance = louder sound = less hp loss.
If your muffler is under warranty, it's a quick replacement. Take it to midas or wherever and tell them you suspect a baffle in the muffler...they can confirm it easily enough.

What happened to your link?
It's not under warranty, but it only does this when the car has been sitting awhile, I guess I'm just gonna get a new muffler. How do you think a Z28 muffler would sound on an otherwise stock setup exhaust?CarDomain Page

Sorry, having bizzarre IE problems here.
Go to www.goravin.com and select the products links
At the top of the page there's a cut out of a muffler.
I dont' know about the z28 muffler myself but I would recommend a Ravin 33 series 1997 silver Camaro RS
|T-Type Powered|
Looking for a local F-Body club in K/W, Ontario, Canada?
