When my car idles it rattles under the car. When I start to hit the gas it rattles. It is starting to get pretty bad and embarassing. I think it maybe my exhaust but it does not seem loose. What may the problem be? Let me tell you im in the military and everytime I drive through the gate it makes that noise and it is VERY embarassing.

i'm 99.999% sure its the cat gone bad. mine did the same thing. didnt know what it was for awhile until i noticed i was gettin about 10mpg on the road compared to 25 when i first bought it. lay down next to your car right under the passenger door and see if you hear it rattling. my cat. converter went out at 10k miles

My first guess is the cat as well. 99.999%. HOWEVER, when mine did that, the cat checked out ok, and it turned out to be the STARTER of all things! It had a bad bendix that would rattle back and forth. If it is the starter, DO NOT EVER GO TO AUTOZONE!!!!!! Go to Advanced Auto, CarQuest, Napa, or anywhere else. I went through 4 new starters in ONE DAY from Autozone before my mechanic got one that worked!! Just a heads up.

http://www.cardomain.com/id/nitroxxx28

There is another possibility. One of the heat shields could be loose. On my truck, the heat shield by the Cat is loose.
It will rattle at idle and during shifting from time to time. On the cool side, it doesn't sound like a 4 banger anymore. j/kSinister Six
Cardomain
--This doesn\'t change the fact that I am ~The Guru~ who still kicks puppies...
