    If you blocked off the egr and did the tb bypass/block off I imagine the air would stay cooler. hmm. . just another thought. And yes illegal I know.

    You are correct. I have done both...

    The ultimate cooling for the intake would be some spacers below the intake. Since the air is exposed to a lot more metal surface in the remainder of the intake, than the minimal exposure it gets in just the tb which is pretty small compared to the intake. Keeping the whole intake cool would help even more.
