If you blocked off the egr and did the tb bypass/block off I imagine the air would stay cooler. hmm. . just another thought. And yes illegal I know.

You are correct. I have done both...
The ultimate cooling for the intake would be some spacers below the intake. Since the air is exposed to a lot more metal surface in the remainder of the intake, than the minimal exposure it gets in just the tb which is pretty small compared to the intake.
