Has anyone have any experience with the Dynatech Vortex Insert Cones??

quote:
The Vortex Insert Cone, installed near the exit of the header collector or muffler outlet, provides a large friction area to reflect and dissipate sound energy, thus reducing the dB level. Because no significant backpressure has been introduced, the engine is still able to use the scavenge ability of a good header to create horsepower and torque. Dyno and track testing show significant noise reduction with little or no power loss.

I may have to give it a shot one day just to see if it'll quiet down the Borla and eliminate the popping associated with deceleration.

Jason, great minds think alike!! I saw this in the catalog at lunch yesterday and wondered the same thing for my Borla!

I thought the resonator pipe in the I-pipe or something got rid of that popping

hey, hate to be one to bring back an old post. But, this is the only one I found when I did a search. Was wondering if anyone has tried the Dynatech insert cones? I got my 2nd exhaust ticket tonight. yeapppyy. I need to quite it down. My exhaust setup is, CIA headers, 3" high flow cat, and the American Thunder 3" Cat back system. I'm wondering if the cones will quite it down enough so the police won't give me another loud exhaust ticket. ;) I want to keep my exhaust setup since I'm planning on getting me a supercharger. Thanks for any info,

Is this what your talking about, Jeff??

Maybe you can place them in your exhaust tips. So when your around the house you can keep it quite so not to get another ticket. But when your over here on the TN side you can take them out and have the noise.

yeah, those are the ones I was looking at. I'm wondering if they would do a good job of reducing the exhaust sound? Would hate to buy two of them and they didn't work good. May just try them though. So, do they just fit up into the exhaust tips? Or would I have to install them right at the muffler outlets? I guess I need to call them and ask.

I was also thinking about seeing if I could get the muffler that comes on the Flowmaster Force II catback systems. but, i say that muffler would still be to loud on the VA side.

those are a crock of $hit!

some guy had those in his ls1 f-body and he had longtubes and a cam and only dynoed 350rwhp.
took out the cones in exhaust made 380rwhp.
this is with a tuned car.

Hey, thanks for the info. I think I'll probably just go with the muffler that comes with the Flowmaster Force II cat back system. I just hope I can buy only the muffler since I've already got the American Thunder cat back system. Guess I'll be calling summit tonight to see if I can get the muffler only.

Going with a new muffler maybe cheaper for you in the long run.
