I was looking under my car hood the other day and had an Idea and was wondering if anybody has done this. I thinking about cutting out a slot in the part where the hood latch mounts to and making the air folw streight into the air intake since the factory hood dont have any nostrils and the hood latch thingy blocks the air from going streight through.
Tell me what yall think
bad idea... it will **** up the way your car looks.. if you want to make the best effort to fake a ram air system, why dont u run pvc piping from the nostrils where aftermarket fog lights can be mounted??
u can do that, or save yourself the headache and just make a CAI using 3" PVC pipe and stick a 3" cone filter above the mud guard, and below the engine plate.. this is what i did..
It has worked out excellent for me. As far as what Silicuda says, I don't know what he means. It changes no looks except when you get up close and peer into the nostrils. Then you can see the underside of the air filter.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

What year is your car. I did it on my 2001 and then just made two ducts out of aluminum to keep the air going straight. Two little pieces of aluminum screen will keep the bugs out of you engine bay. Works great. A dremel and a lot of sanding disks is all your need.
Hey silicuda, I have a 96 3.8 camaro and I wanna make a homemade CAI but I heard that with my year, if I made one my SES light would come one. also, do you know if I can use the same one you made on my car?
By the way, the hood latch handle doesn't get in the way at all. You just have to remove it when you make the cuts. Then you can put it back on. When the hood is closed the latch spring assembly can be seen, but is little to no restriction to the air.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
