  • Just poured Seafoam in my car, and...

I did it at 11:30pm since I am normally awake that time of night.
Started the car up, removed the throttle body vac line, poured in seafoam until the car stalled (about 1/2 of a pint). Let the car sit for about 6-7 minutes, then started it up.
Got a slight hesitation at first, then it smoothed out. Next thing I know, I can't see my hand in front of my face! I had the garage door wide open but it still didn't help, so I backed the car out onto my driveway. There was smoke EVERYWHERE! A few minutes later, I hear sirens getting closer to me. Someone called the Fire Dept because of all the smoke. I put the whole street in a white cloud of smoke, and because it was at night, there wasn't any wind to blow it away.
I had no idea that it would smoke that much. After telling one of the Firemen what I was doing, he told me he had a Z28 and wanted to know where I got the Seafoam at. I took the car for a ride and the smoke finally went away after about 10 minutes.
*Word to the wise: Do NOT Seafoam your car at night!!

          I have a 1996 Camaro 3.8 with a 5-spd. I got the Seafoam from NAPA.
Go to www.napaonline.com to locate the nearest store to you if you don't already know.
I don't know of any other autostore that carries seafoam.

When i first did the sea foam treatment on my camaro, there was a lot a lot a lot of smoke. i didnt expect so much. About 3 min later my front neighbor is screaming at the top of her lungs(b/c i was in the car) " get out of the car are you crazy? do you want me to call the fire dept"

I guess she must of taught the car was on fire, then i yelled no its ok i have it. The whole time she stood there with a worried look on her face. And also about 6 other neighbors came out to investigate what was going on.

maybe i'm blind, but i couldn't see jack today

ON THE 3.4 look on the drivers side firewall first thing you see is a big black type thing called the brake booster.

You Disconnect the line and pour it in there, its a vaccum and it sucks in all the air, get a funnel put it in the hose and pour the seafoam in.

Yeah, so like my computer sucks and I can't get into that site...so could someone please tell me what this is and why you do it, how you do it. Is it harmful to the car? How does it effect the car...etc.?

Seafoam is a cleaner goes into the throttle body through the vacuum line, and it cleans out the carbon inside the intake/engine and cat converter that builds up within time. The 3.8 engines have a vacuum line on the throttle body right in front of the IAC Sensor on the passenger side of the engine. Start the car, remove the vac line and pour about 1/2 of a can of seafoam into the throttle body section (the vacuum will suck the seafoam in). The car will then stall, and let the seafoam do it's stuff for about 5 minutes without the engine running. After the 5 minutes pass, start the car up and it'll smoke like hell for quite a few minutes...TRUST ME!
I felt a big difference in my throttle response after I did this, as most people do.
I do not have a 3.4, but I think you would pour the seafoam in through the brake booster vac line behind the master cylinder.
You shouldn't have any trouble with any computer sensors. The instructions on the bottle say it's oxygen sensor safe too.
