Flowmaster American Thunder for V6 Camaro featured on HotRod TV
It mentioned that it has a special deflector to get rid of the raspy sound. From the Horsepower TV spoke person. "It'll give your 3.8 a big block sound." It had a special square piece welded to the I-pipe, looked like some sort of resonator.
The resonator probably helps muffle the sound a little better because really, that 80 series is too much for our cars to sound how that muffler was intented to.
heres a link to a pic of it. http://www.horsepowertv.com/hotparts/ go to Sat Jan 25th, then at the very bottom of the page. theres a box thats welded in the i-pipe.

it's a resonator. the resonator is in the box and is shaped like a horseshoe. it makes for a longer resonator length to deepen and quiet more of the exhaust. no, it didn't sound like a big block, but is was deep. they didn't rev it very high, so i dunno what it would sound like at redline.

Resonators like that do help with the sound but they hurt power sometimes, I made a dump for mine using a turn down and blowing a hole in the pipe before the cat, and welding a cap on and it made it rumble more but it hurt speed somewhat.
