how difficult is it to install the SLP CAI. Mine's coming soon. Is it necessary to take anything out from underneath?

There was a DYNO between the FIPK as well as the lid, and with the hood open, the FIPK was better. Yet...
With the hood as you will be driving, the FIPK LOST, thats right, LOST over 20 rear wheel horse.
The FIPK looks cool, but if you are willing to pay 250.00 to loose power, and look cool only when the hoods open, be my guest.
I will see if I can get the link for everybody.

what year fipk are you talking about as im sure it is different on the 98+ style compared to the 97 and earlier style.
That is comparing apples to oranges or something like that.
I can see the 98+ style fipk may be different but
for the 95-97 v6's the fipk system outflows the slp intake.
METAL stays hotter longer.
Ever go outside to wash your car and the water hose was hot? Then you turn on the water and the water is all hot due to the hose being hot. Same effect on your slp metal pipe warming up from the engine.

'Loochy88'- The install isn't too tough...took me about 45 min. You have to take out the stock airbox. The instructions that come with it are pretty good, you shouldn't have a problem. The hardest part was putting the cai tube into the stock elbow...those parts appear to be the same diameter. Try putting a little wd40 around the inside of the stock elbow before sliding the cai in.
To anybody with SLP CAI: How often do you clean the air filters? I believe SLP recomends doing it with every oil change.94 Firebird, 3.4 V6, Red, M5
SLP CAI, Accel 8mm Superstock Wires, Bosch Platinum +4 Plugs, Borla Exhaust, BMR Strut Tower Brace, 180* Thermostat, B&M Ripper Shifter
http://www.cardomain.com/id/94bird

if you have a 94 you would benefit from the fipk
The dyno sheet you saw was on a 98+ ls1 style intake. That fipk system is different and not the same as what you would use.

rubber/plastic and your point is? It does not stay hot as long as chrome metal does
Metal retains heat longer than plastic does.
There is already heat coming out of the engine like a vent out your throttle body so the air is already being heated. This is the reason for the need of outside engine bay air that is cooler to lower the temperature.
Ever touch your cai intake tubing after you have been driving for a while? It is kinda warm huh? Im sure it is hotter on a metal chrome pipe than on plastic. Not sure if the difference acutally makes a difference on performance or not but every little bit helps.
