Under any kind of decent acceleration you won't notice any lag b/c once the car is above ~2200, it takes off... you will gain acceleration. The only time you'll notice a little loss is if you like to drive like a grandma shifting at 2000 rpms. :D Then it may feel a little sluggish due to less backpressure from the bigger pipes. But if you drive like that, you shouldn't be wasting money on performance mods.

2.75" and I have plentyful amounts of torque under 2,000rpms. Just ease in to the throttle and in the passenger seat you can feel the car push you into the seat (I've had someone drive my car). I know under stock conditions you couldn't feel jack in the passenger seat. Also my 60' and just the feel of the pull show me I still have plenty of it as well.

3" go with it if ya want but for NA applications you're fine with 2.75" or even 2.5". I choose 2.75".
