what would sound deeper and give me more preformance? i dont really race like i used too so just need something for my daily driver its a 3.8 96.

2.5 inch pipeing or 3?

deepest would be 3" without a doubt.
performance wise there was just a 2 page argument a few weeks ago. [img]graemlins/rofl.gif[/img] You'll never get a straight answer. I think 3" works well. Others will say its too much for a v6. Either way, you will gain performance over the stock setup.
3" sounds mean though. ;)

I have the same car with 2.5" i pipe and flowmaster 80's. It sounds okay, deep but QUIET! I'm going to go with the 3" tomorrow because 2.5" isn't cutting it. I don't want to sound obnoxious, but I want my exhaust louder than stock! As for loss of performance, just do a search for 3 inch i pipe... you'll find COUNTLESS arguments on weither it affects performance due to back preassure and what not. I would say 2.75 for a daily driver. I think that it would keep is slightly quieter than the 3', and would be good all around for lightly modded NA applications. I got my 3' and I love it, but I am planning to go turbo.

I went with 2.5" and I'm kind of wishing I had gone with 3" now that I think about it. I will make the jump eventually, but I will get nice, better flowing pipes and a high flow cat as well. Just had an Edelbrock cat-back delivered a few days ago, and it's going on with a 3" cat and 3" pipes Tuesday. I went back and forth on 2.5" or 3" since February. I got a 3". Raspy around 3500rpm or under quick acceleration. Some loss on low end torque. Doesn't sound depend on muffler? and with a Borla, you got some options. The neighbors hate me with a 3/8" hole drilled in the Borla block-off plate ... but I keep telling them ... I could make it louder.

Not true. ;)
Under any kind of decent acceleration you won't notice any lag b/c once the car is above ~2200, it takes off... you will gain acceleration. The only time you'll notice a little loss is if you like to drive like a grandma shifting at 2000 rpms. :D Then it may feel a little sluggish due to less backpressure from the bigger pipes. But if you drive like that, you shouldn't be wasting money on performance mods.

IMO 3" sounds much better. It is definately deeper.
Sound wise, i'm quite sure no one will argue with me, 3" is the way to go. If this gets into a performance debate, you will hear many opinions about which size is better for a v6. Either way, you WILL gain some performance over the stock setup. I'm happy with my 3" :D
