  • Custom Ram Air Mod on a 3.4L V6

Hey guys, so I am thinking of doing a custom mod and installing RAM AIR on my car using underbody tubing to route air to the airbox with a whisper lid...

has anyone done anything similar before??? I know its easier to get a ram air hood and do it that way, but I dont have a thousand dollars to buy a hood right now.

Go into a little more detail about your plans. I don't think it will be possible due to our intake system setup vs. the 98+ intake setup, but I would like to hear more.

If you try to run it like the 98+ it wont happen. Trust me-- I tried :D Viper was right-- theres not enough hood room.

        This is just theory,

Running air scoops under neat the front bumper of the car, airscoops route air to the air box via tubing... air box is connected to MAF using whisper lid (just like the ram air on t/a's)

wasiest way I figured... is take off the plastic bottom piece under the driver side fende. mount filter in the same spot as a normal CAI, jsut run piping underneat the car.

Problem is that the 3.4L V6 does not have a MAF. Also, you don't have room between the underside of the hood and the top of the radiator shroud for a whisper lid. You would need a hood like the SLP Ultra Z hood and then you could use it. At that point, you should just go ahead with full ram air.

OMG, My car doesnt have a MAF? :( I thought it did, guess we learn everyday!

K&N FIPK CAI is the solution for me then.
