SLP Cold air package

I have a 2002 RS Camaro (#330 of 443) M5 with SLP muffler and Z28 exhaust tips. I saw a $300 package on the SLP site that included the cold air induction, K&N air filter, and the SLP lid. They claim this will give 30 hp (15 cold air, 5 filter, 10 lid). Would this increase my acceleration and hp noticeably? Is it worth the money?

You will notice that your car is slightly faster in regular driving. With the CAI, you'll notice that your car will feel a little more powerful when going at highway speeds. (50+ mph) The faster you are going the more an air intake is going to make a difference by forcing air into your engine. The gains are nothing ridiculous, maybe 10 hp, but definitely not 30.

On the other hand, you're car's exhaust will sound louder and lower in pitch. It will not sound like an 8 cylinder, but it will sound a little closer than it does now. It will sound a lot meaner and not so raspy.

As far as "is it worth $300?" Well, I bought an SLP CAI, a Whisper Lid, and K&N Filter, and noticed a bit more power on the highway, but to me the real difference was the sound. I'd do it again just for the sound because your car will definitely sound meaner.

If you are just looking for an increase in hp, the $300 might not be worth it. (Depending on whether $300 is a lot of money to you. To me - its not the end of the world, but $300 is still $300) But, if you feel paying the money is worth a little hp increase and a nice mean sound, then by all means get it.
