does anyone else get this problem (exhaust knocking)
does anyone else get this problem (exhaust knocking)
sometimes when I go over a bump, I'll hear the tailpipe bang up and down on the car. sometimes it'll go side to side and hit the car that way. also, if i take a harder left turn, and ONLY if i accelerate thru this turn, I'll hear a crimping like noise around the rear end. Could this be the suspension clamping down on the I pipe? I don't understand why it only happens on acceleration.
any ideas? anyone with the same predicament?
You might want to check your exhaust hangers... the rubber part that is... If you have a after market exhaust like a flow, its alot heavier and the stock rubber monuts just cant take it so it likes to move around.. I put heavy duty hangers on mine and the rattle and movement went away.
Where did you get the heavy duty exhaust hangers from? How much? Did you have them installed professionally, how hard is it to convert them to the heavy duty ones? Thanks

my exhaust was knocking when i hit bumps and on hard acceleration. My exhaust was resting on the panhard bar. I had it adjusted. Every couple months i have to get it re-adjusted.

Go to where you got it put on, or a local shop tell them you want a 360 mount. its a metal peice that replaces the doughnut hanger. THeres a bit of rubber at the middle to keep it from rattling the car to pieces.
I agree with zccop2001 on this one - check for loose bolts, mine was doing that and I could'nt see anything wrong, until we started pushing the car back & forth and got it rattling real good. My buddy noticed a bolt on the suspension that had worked itself loose.
