• Nostrils of my bird are functional ram/ cold air now

Trying to squeak out every single hp and et out of my car I find myself getting creative.
I do not have a front bumper support and this is the only way this will work. There is not enough room w/ the bumper support in there.
Today I did a mock test of it.
Basically on the nose of the firebird's there are two holes with a black plastic piece in the back. Traditionally people mount their fog lights there.
I had mine there but finally ditched them today.
Right now I am running my back up intake (lingenfelter cold air w/ conical k&n) instead of my SLP cold air kit.
I completely blew apart my SLP cold air kit due to a HUGE nitrous backfire.
I removed the black plastic pieces in the nose and now air can flow straight into the engine area (actually radiator).

This is a trial set up, I have to find something better and also I need to reshape/ cut the openings. They are an odd shape and I have to take a look in home depot and see if I can find any better ducting. Also I will have to improve the way the ducting will attatch to the openings because trapping 92 mph n/a and 107 mph on the bottle it will force A LOT of air into those tubes. If they are not secure then it will be a waste.

I used dryer ducting seen here on my 91 sable (3rd pic):
http://www.geocities.com/misterjuice/sable.html
Right now the dryer ducting starts at my driver's side nostril held on by 2 zip ties. It snakes under the drivers side head light, enters the area where the SLP cold air kit filters would sit.
Since I have the Lingenfelter cold air kit the dryer ducting goes up the metal opening (slp cold air kit filters sit in) and the dryer ducting just has a bend in it so the air will just hit the K&N conical filter.

I am hitting the track in a couple hours and will see if there are any other differences.
I am running different parts though:
N/A plugs
Lingenfelter cold air kit
60+ pounds lighter

I'm really looking to see if the mph can jump into the 92's or higher.

Once I perfect this I think I can see 1/2 - 1 mph gain n/a and on the bottle who knows.

Ideally I would like to have dryer ducting from both nostrils go towards the drivers side compartment where the SLP cold air kit sits.
I would like to have one tube slot over one air filter and the other slot over the other.
That way I am constantly forcing in air, cold dense air straight from the nose where I would expect a decent amount of wind turbulence is.
Previously the air would hit this sealed area and then come out and go around the nose, now I am hoping that the air will just go straight into the tubing and straight into the engine.

I also could remove the air filter on it and just run the tubing directly to the lingenfelter tube for track only conditions, hmmmmmmm That was just a brain storm as I type

I'll keep updates as this progresses.
I might be able to get some pic's also.

James...you might want to try the FLEXIBLE dryer hose as seen in my sig...I tryed the stuff your using and it just kept cracking/breaking.

The stuff I have is very flexible and bendible and you can bend the opening to anyshape you can imagine (including the oval shape of the nostrils).

Just curious...what happends when you rear end someone with out a bumper support?

No really, I'm curious. What would happen? Is it that unsafe?

ya, it's pretty unsafe. not that you will die, but it definetely won't help the un-death process...

think of it as pretty much being a car with no bumper

Yeah, I've looked at it but with those ripples it might hurt airflow?
I'm still looking into tubing.
I appreciate the suggestion though.

As for no bumper supports, well, if I was hit either front or rear it would probably be the end of the car :(
Fuel economy did go and gain 1-2 mpg
