Magnaflow sounds better at low RPMs and feels like the gains are a little better. Treat it like Nike and just do it!

i have my magnaflow and i have a few things to say. First off I really like the tips.. They're huge, and they definitely look slick. Secondly, for the FIRST TIME, I heard my car without me in it! My girl drove it down the street and it sounded damn clean. She got on it a little and it still sounded nice. At about 3500 rpms when in the car it sounds ricey, but she said she was above 4k and from outside the car, it didnt' sound bad at all!
Also, my boss has a 95 trans am, paxton supercharger, 373s, headers, LT1 Edit, Flowmaster exhaust, catco cat, built trans.. He hates his flowmasters. He likes the sound.. but after all the reading he's and when he's compared the power on the dyno.. *compared to dynomax*.. the "flows" wasn't letting the engine "flow" and it generated 6-8hp less than the dynomax system *it's really just the muffler effecting everything, the same 3 inch mandrel bent tubes.. take it for you want... flows are the cheapest exhaust you can buy, borla and corsa are the most expensive.. magnaflow is the best middle ground
PERIOD
btw.. yes the 3 inch LS1 one is what you need.. but you'll need an S pipe to hook up to the converter
the exhaust lines up to the left of the cat and y pipe by about a foot.. just to let ya know

Say I get the 3" Magnaflow and I also get a 3" in/out hi-flow cat, would I need a new s-pipe? Must forgive just got the car and don't know **** about it.

of course a flowmaster is going to sound a little tinny or raspy when first installed. Mine is well broken in and it doesn't do that.-Eric
2002 Navy Blue Camaro...Striped and Stalled. 35th Anniversary SS wheels
Best ET: 15.384 @ 88.32 on street tires
Project Whitney: Goal, 14.0 1/4 by summer 2008.

here's the best way i can explain it to ya without a picture. Have you ever sat in the passenger seat of your car? If you have, then you must've noticed the big lump on the left side of the floormat. The bump is right by the seat, to the left, and pretty close to the center console. That my friend is where your catalytic converter goes. when a exhaust is put on let's say a v8 exhaust like flows or magna.. it can be installed just fine.. but the piping ends well short of the catalytic converter.. it ends somewhere underneath the right side of the driver's seat. Thus there's a gap in connecting the cat to the exhaust. Thus a pipe, in the shape of an S is needed to curve around the underbody of the car, to make it fit.. here's a quick drawing to help
-------------------->ENGINE
Y pipe-------------->\ - /
Y pipe--------------> \-/
Cat converter-------> CAT

Tips
Y pipe is connected to the engine on each side, 3 cylinders each, to expel the exhaust gases, the pipe is in the shape of the y, and meet at the catalytic converter. See the gap in the pic? The I's are probably right underneath the driver's seat, while the cat is under the passenger's seat. Since aftermarket companies for 3 inch exhausts don't include the S pipe, you have to find one yourself, and preferably mandrel bent to curve around to fit. BTW mandrel bent is a way of bending pipe to ensure that the diameter is consistent throughout the entire turn of the pipe. In other words, the pipe doesn't get thinner as it's bent. Hope this helps

Has anyone that has heard either of these two systems heard an Edelbrock? Also, does anyone know flow rates for it? I have an Edelbrock, and I think that it is great. It doesn't rumble nearly as much as the dynomax, magnaflow, or flowmaster that I have heard, but it gets nowhere as raspy after 3k rpm either, so I was just wondering how these two systems compare to the edelbrock?

P.S. No sound clips for flowmaster or magnaflow that I have ever heard went above 3k or so.2000 Red Firebird Coupe, A4. ((3.42 Gears, LSD Stock))
Details: 3\" Edelbrock Exhaust, 3\" Catco Cat,160* Thermostat, 8% Tint, TA Chrome Wheels, Viper 550.

Oookkkk at that wasn't needed but thanks anyway.
I was just wondering if the stock s-pipe would work but I don't think it will.
