I put a 80 series flowmaster on my car with the stock piping but i also gutted my cat. I dont know how much horse power i gained but there was a noticable difference in the car that i could feel.

Ok, if we are talking just the muffler then you will see maybe 5 hp at the crank if you are lucky. I figure more like 1. There wasn't much difference on mine. 10HP, no way. However, after I installed 3" pipe from the s back to the muffler I have seen (for sure) about 1mpg average fuel economy increase, but with most of that coming from increased highway economy. I think the top of each gear may be stronger. I wouldn't doubt that a cat back would give you 10HP, even more if you do it right and replace the s-pipe. Add high flow cat, and i think there's a good chance of seeing 15. But don't quote me on that.

Might as well throw in the same old "make sure to do intake" line, just so all the bases are covered

I have a Flowmaster 80 and I gained nothing more than a different exhaust note.
Some people say that you get better gas mileage, but power gains are highly unrealistic (especially for a stock car [with cats too]).

I know that the farter you get the less impact it has on the engine but switching from a stock quiet muffler to a loud free flowing one has to have a few gains you can just tell by the sound .

With the muffler just a few not very much but with good sized piping say 3 inch that would be great! You will get a good deep airy sound tons of power.
