• Custom CAI's....are they any good?

I've been seeing custom CAI kits all over eBay, and I'm just wondering if they work. They seem to run anywhere between $30-$50, which is considerably cheaper than the the K&N or SLP kit. I'm sure the name brand kits would probably work better, but do the custom ones work well enough?

i figure there getting the same air from the same place, so the only difference would be diameter piping in which we dont reall "have" other than that black POS from the box to the intake. i dont think that there would be much of a difference. there may be a slight difference in intake lids however. i saw in a magazine (cant remember which) that they did a run down on those, and those had differences, i'll look 'em up at my house if u want.

Custom Cold Air just scoll down the page till you see the engine pics.the pipe size is 3.5".I noticed a huge differnce from stock to my set up.And this makes a Turbo sucking sound the whole time.I paid alittle too much for it but I got what I wished for.more power

That's not a cold air intake. That's a pipe and filter in your engine bay.

It draws the air from behind the left headlight out of the engine bay, just as Stefans Procharger kit does.... Just an FYI. The SLP/ FTRA/Whisper type are for 1999+ F-bods.

i think that he meant it wasnt coming from somewhere OTHER than the engine bay... most cold air's get it from the bumper or somewhere else in the body... anywhere but the engine bay... to toasty in there.

That would make more sense, put that way I understand the logic, only put that way.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like it would probably be worth the 40 bucks for one.

I was just looking at one I foundon ebay a while back. I've seen this guy sell custom CAI's for a lot of different things, and he has great feedback. Unfortunately, for some reason I can't seem to find any of them when I search. I'm sure he'll have more up soon. When I find one, I'll put a link up for you.

Are you talking about the CHROME INTAKES guy? If you are, I have one. It is better than stock but since this is the only intake I have tried I cannot compare it to anything else.
