After breaking my plastic SSRA intake in an accident I decided I might try one of the more low profile (as in doesn't hang down in front of the nose of my car!) models. So I got the decently priced Whisper kit because I heard it was almost exactly the same as the Fast Toys and better than the SLP kit because it still had more pieces or something.
So I get the kit and I'm impressed by how well built and sturdy its made. I couldn't wait to get it on the car. Well after about 5 hours of struggling in the pouring rain (ya I thought I could get it in BEFORE it started raining) I had to give up. It just would NOT fit on my car whatsoever. I was extremely pissed and disappointed but got the assistance of my step-father the next morning, always helps to have another set of hands working on the car ya know? So here's what we had to do to make the damn thing fit. First we had to elongate each of the holes where the wing nuts attach the two intake pieces together (ok WHY did they give me wing nuts for my intake again?!). Anyways that gave it more play so the two pieces could slide along each other instead of just bending. That wasn't enough, the holes at the bottom that attach to the air dam were no where close to lining up right. So we had to enlarge those holes as well a good 1/2". After all that it finally fit halfway decent and I start putting the lower part of the airbox on to find that it totally doesn't line up in the center of the cold air kit. The top of the cold air kit is all the way to the right (drivers side) of my air box! So now I have this gaping hole on the left side where I had done the free-ram-air mod for the SSRA.
I can't express how much I hate ever buying the whisper kit. Saving myself a little extra cash caused me so many headaches and many many cuts on my hands from the sharp sheet metal kit. Don't buy this thing unless you love cussing and slamming things around for a few hours while you install it. It's just not worth it!
