I'm getting some CIA headers next month and figure it's a good time to redo the exhaust as well. Currently I have a crappy pieced together setup. The cat is replaced with a 1 chamber flowmaster racing muffler, the I pipe is stock, the muffler is a no-name brand P.O.S. that has no restrictions or baffles at all. This setup does however seem to do alright. With this exhaust and an slp cai, I dynoed 177.6hp and 222.3tq. I was worried that a larger exhaust like the 3" Hooker catback would give me less backpressure. Is it possible that this can lower torque numbers?
Now to the real question in the topic. I know the Hooker catback has a 3" intermediate. I don't have a clue what size the Edelbrock has, I haven't been able to find much info on it. What do the tips look like on the Edelbrock, assuming it comes with them? Where's the cheapest place to get either? Also, right off the bat I'm not gonna be able to afford a high flow cat, since I'm dumping a large amount into the headers ($725). Since there is no emissions tests in FL, is it worth it to even have a cat, when I can just as easily (and alot cheaper) throw a straightpipe in there?
Those with Hooker or Edelbrock catbacks please leave your input on them in here. Thanks
