Im at work so I cant look under my car. But I got some RKSPORT headers and I wanted to weld them to the Y pipe so they dont leak. But I was thinking if I ever had to pull the tranny back to replace a clutch would the headers and Y pipe be in the way and needed to be removed?
Has anyone had new 3 bolt flanges put on these headers? How much would that cost do ya thinK?
I tried twice with different flanges, gaskets etc to get them to seal & nothing worked!..I ended up cutting them off & welding them to the y-pipe...Now...no more problems!...If I need to do any work I will just cut the pipe & re-weld if necessary...that was the only wa they were not going to leak anymore!!!
What I did and recomend is have new flanges put on. If for any reason you needed to remove the header to me it would be pain in the *** with the y-pipe connected. My local muffler shop put on a thicker two bolt flange's and a good high quality metal gasket. Its been 3 years and still no leaks. But by no means would I weld the two togeather.

The y-pipe, assuming it runs along the same area as the stock pipe, shouldn't interfere with a transmission removal.

Man those rk suck headers should be like 100.00 since they are cheaply designed and you basically have to go to extremes so the pieces of crap seal, that place just sux
