will be doing header install in a couple of days.
is everyone using the header bolts that came with the pacesetter headers? i thought i remember hearing that they were too long. i know the correct size was at one time addressed, but i cant seem to find it in a search. i thought it was said that the ls1 header bolts are the same size. anyway, i ordered a set of stainless steel LS1 locking header bolts and the box they came in say SBC (small block shevy). they length is right, but the threading is different. just wondering what everyone is using.
Also, any prep need to be done to the fel-pro gaskets? any goo, or soaking or anything you need to do to them before you install them?
also, the shop that i was going to have do them (cause they told me $100) just doubled the price on me so im doing it myself. i found a pretty decent compressor w/ ratchet and impact for the same price as a shop install so i think i might treat myself. how much easier would air tools hae made it for you guys?

I used the bolts supplied with the Pacesetters. They were perfect. They say you can use the LS1 bolt, and alot of packages might say SBC bolts instead of LS1, just because some companies don't pay any attention to packaging. As far as prep for the gaskets, I did none and have no leaks at all. Air tools: I didn't use any, and really don't know that I would if I did them again. It's just that it wasn't a real difficult install even with hand tools. An air ratchet might have sped up the process of taking the old bolts off, but it also might have helped break the old bolts too.

Ya bolts are included and they worl like their intended to. I would use some RTV or Grease to make sure you can those gasekets in the exact place you want them. They can move on ya if your not careful.

I would recommend NOT using any RTV. It has been shown to cause ALOT of O2 sensor problems on the LS1 cars and others when it starts to burn off down into your primaries. Maybe a dab just to hold it in place for a few seconds, but no more. My $.02
