Who here has installed their own cat back exhaust?

I am wondering how many people have done their own exhaust installation.

I am still confused about hooking up mine. I havent done it yet and I am going to get help from a friend but myself, I want to know what I am doing first. LOL

I bought a TSP Rumbler cat back and an SLP S pipe (loudmouth installation kit?) and i am confused cause I thought It would just bolt right on... I need to know what I have to do to bolt it onto the stock cat, basically.

If anyone can leave an email for me I will email you my question and hopefully word it better. LOL

BTW i have been looking for an install guide all over the net basically showing me a step by step cat back installation... I want one on a V6 not an 8.

uhh - whats the difference? Our exhausts are essentially the same as the V8s -- placement is and such.

You need to cut the old exhaust off first.
Then just match up the pieces with your old exhaust and new exhaust...it goes in just like it came out.
For the S-pipe you will have to cut the old one off close to the cat and get the new one welded on (I didn't do an S-pipe with my borla cat-back)
It's a pretty simple install...very straight forward. The only things that will be a little tough is to get the old exhaust cut off and the new one welded onto the cat.

what he said. Just take note of where the hangers are, remove old exhaust, install new. Maybe even brake down & have it welded up afterwards.

How far are you from Cinnaminson? You could probably come check my car out somehow. I have no lifts at all, but maybe you could get a look underneath somehow and it might give you a better idea on what your doing.

I was going to use 3 inch band clamps that I have lying around from JC whitney instead of the clamps provided... for an all around better seal. I do realize i gotta cut parts off and that isnt a problem.

I am sure I can piece it all together, my main concern is attaching the s pipe to the cat.

So basically there isnt a big difference between a V8 and a V6?

I did mine and it was a major pain. the clamps that came with mine were a joke and worked for like 30 seconds. I had it all welded by a shop. I had a hard time getting the overaxle pipe over the axle, but looking back I guess it was worth to save the money.

Personally i dont like those clamps that come with the exhaust... maybe for just the tips but for the pipe itself it needs a little more (band clamps, yay). lol

maybe hardest thing is getting the old exhaust off.

Have some WD-40 handy to knock off that rust off the bolts.

Its ummm... the slp loudmouth installation kit for LS1. Let me get back to you on that part number... gotta get to work

The adapter is SLP part number 30045. I also used a 3" band-clamp where the cat and "S-pipe" meet up, it is much better than the clamps provided.

the hardest part of the install for me was getting the new exhaust over the rear axel. i ended up taking the heat shield off and finally getting the exhaust over. then i put the heat shield back on.

hey onequickv6 is the install kit completely bolt on with the rumbler or do i have to cut it ......

im very confused cause i just ordered it and i do not plan on paying someone to install
