  • Quieting internal ruckus from Loud Mouth

I've had my Loud Mouth cat-back for a while now and love my mean and viciously loud exhaust note. The problem is that its almost as loud on the inside as it is on the outside at certain rpms/gears. Sometimes I get this really loud droning that vibrates my teeth as well as several loose parts of my dash or any change I might have in the cup holder! I was wondering if there was any quick fix for dampening that sound, maybe those subwoofer mats people put around their boxes and speakers? I was thinking maybe cover the whole rear hatch floor and behind the back seats with it. More insulation/material should make it a little better I think, well I hope!

I don't mind it that much really, just when I'm tired of have a headache it can get to me when I can't have the windows down (rain/snow or freezing cold). Also girls might be turned off a little bit by it, although not one has complained yet while in the DARK SDE with me ;)

Replace the Loudmouth Resonator with a Dynomax Bullet Muffler. Make it a Dynomouth!

any sound clips of such a system on a 3.8? or at least give me some comparison so i know what to expect. i like the sound, it just doesn't need to be as loud or drone at speeds

There was a soundclip floating around awhile ago.
        The Comments I remember are..

        Somewhat Quiter, Still loud
Not as redicously loud up top
        Little Less Raspy
        Slightly more mellow down low
        Still Sounds BadA**

I did hear the clip. It did sound good!

I have put brown bread threw the spare tire area, and half the trunk so far, no noticable noise reduction :(

You are going to think this is crazy but with my loudmouth, the most effective sound dampening was with undercoating. I dynomatted my whole trunk and it did nothing and then I sprayed the whole underbody extra thick under the trunk and suprisingly it actually worked. It may have just been me getting used to it but I believe it dampened the sound quite a bit. Headers also quieted my exhaust a decent amount, the only explanation I have for that was the less turbulent exhaust flow quited it down a bit. The headers gave it a nice hollow exhaust flow down low in the rpm range too.

What kind of coating did you use under your car? Sounds like it might work to me. Thanks for telling me about the failed matting on the interior though, saved me some cash.

I eliminated a lot of exhaust drone by elimninating my cat. ;)
