My car's performance dropped off significantly a couple of days ago, then on the highway in third gear at about 4500 rpm it started misfiring like a mofo. It was so damn slow a little Civic kept up with me. I took it into the shop and it turns out my catalytic converter had gone bad. Just a word of warning, the stock cats suck.

yeah, same thing happend to my car around 55000miles. I drove around with the clogged cat for like 2000 miles though. It will keep getting clogged and unclogged and chunks of your cat will start flying out of your exhaust. its pretty funny when your friend is driving behind you.1997 Camaro Y87. i'm a member on that msg board as well [img]smile.gif[/img] it's been a bad year for cats..within my local fbody club, like 5 cats have been replaced this past season. maybe moisture in the air or something has something to do with it..((shrugs))

cats are only designed for 20-50K mi depending upon conditions.

My Cat just recently went bad at 65,000 miles. It rattles and seems to be having a hard time.

Your gas quality has a lot to do with it, When i lived in Maine I saw a lot of cloged cats some to the point where the car or truck all most wouldn't run.
It's the cold(taking 4 ever to warm up) and gas up there.
