header install advice?

  • header install advice?

    anyone got any advice? ive never done headers on a V6 , ive done many lt1's but never a V6, any tricks i should know before i start? the headers are RK sport if they are much different than the pacesetters

    The hardest part are removing the stock headers.
    Soak them up with WD-40 before you start working on it.
    You will need a Deep Well 13mm(I think) socket for the stock manifold bolts.
    There are some studs that don't come out. I just left them on there till I figure out a good way to take them out.
    soak up the gasket overnight before you install the headers.
    Thats all I can think of right now.

      anyone have any experinece with the header flange running into one of the brackets that hold the power steering pump? i think im gonna have to grind down the flange.. i've decided my car hates me

        i had the exact same problem. i just grinded the bracket down. works fine. in fact i ran the car for awile with out the bracket. the powersterring pump was still secure without that bracket on.

          ijust took the flange down a bit... it fits now, lol, the headers are in... just a lil leak around the passenger side collector flange

              fine i guess.. the leak is really annoying and i dont have time today or tomorow to fix it, so hopefully friday i will know how i like em for sure ( i know the car is deffinetly faster now though when im over 4K the car takes off)
