  • K&N Aircharger Intake for 1998+ 3.8's?

Anyone seen these yet(part #63-1084)? I happened to come across it when I was looking for part numbers on K&N's page. It is relatively new, as the release date was Dec. 8, 2003. It basically is a cold air intake elbow for the 1998+ V6 f-bodies. Seems to do the job of the underhood ram air and whisper lid in on combination. Anyone tried it? Is it better than the existing setups we have had? Right now, I am just running a whisper lid with stock paper filter. Kinda pricey... summit racing seems to be one of the few places offering it at the moment...at $256.95...but maybe worth it if it flows better and delivers cooler air...

Here is a link to it:

It is the last one on the page. You can view the manual for the installation too and a picture of it. I believe I have seen a similar one installed on an LS1 camaro somewhere....but not yet for a 3.8
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?

You'll be lucky to pick up 1-2 rwhp for that $250.

      Your joking, right?

That looks pretty cool! I might sell my whisper lid and buy that!

Go ahead and get some yellow stickers. They add 5hp each! Just because it says it adds 1000HP on the box, dosen't mean that it will. Don't believe the hype kids. We just had this discussion actually:

Just in case none of you noticed, it's only for the 99-02 3.8L v6 F-bodies. It wont fit a 98 because of the stupid angled throttle body. Although I will say that the 98's angled throttle bodies work well for if you're using a supercharger or turbo, but for N/A they suck! You could probbably make this work for a 98, but you'd have to use something like the flex hose that comes with the whisper lids for 98s.

Looks damn shizznizzy! I like it except for that price. I don't think its better than whisper lid combo though, probably it'll do just the same.

I personally don't see it working that much better than a whisper lid IMO...especially for the price!
