Retro-fitting 3" exhuast

I'm lookin to upgrade the stock exhaust with a 3" after-market catback system, and i was just wondering if i need to by a reducer or something to make the 3" pipes fit into the 2.5" hole on the stock cat.

The stock cat piping is actually 2.25inch. You could buy a reducer that goes from 2.25inch to 3 inches. Most people with older models like to replace the cat anyway while they are there and just get a 3inch in/out cat. Either way is fine.
