Need help with exhaust system

i just got a 2001 3.8 camaro and its got only the single outlet exhaust, i bought the 80 series flowmaster muffler and i want dual outlets and tips so what else do i need to get besides the tips and muffler to do all this? And also how much would it cost? I heard something about a Y pipe but im not too sure. I'm just starting to get into cars so i dont know a whole lot yet. Also I was listening to the soundclip on flowmasters website for the 80 series with a 3.8 and it sounded pretty awesome, is that just from the muffler, because i want it to sound just liek that, thanks alot.

did you get jsut a muffler or a cat back system? if you order a complete cat back system it will include everything you need to get the dual out look and it can be installed with hand tools in your driveway in a few hours.
all you would need to do is get whatever tips you want and either have them welded on or if you get clamp on tips you can jsut put them on yourself.

The clip that Flowmaster has on their site is close, but I don't think it sounds that great. If you want to go cat back then njspder hit it on the head. If you want JUST the flowmaster on there, then u will just need pipe to come from the flowmaster to dual it out with some tips. I reccomend 3 1/2" tips

hey guys thanks alot that really helps, i think im going to cancel the order of just the muffler and get the whole cat back system from summit, they have it for $270, sounds like a good deal bc flowmaster's site has the same set up for $470. only problem is the set up comes with 3 inch tips and i definetly want the 3 1/2, is there anyway i can swap that out and pay a little more to customize the order? or do i just have to spend the extra money and buy the 3 1/2s seperate? what kind of hp and tq gains should i expect out of this? also what kind of a difference would it make to take off the catalytic converter? thanks again

If you take off your cat if will flow a lil better and the sound will change, not too sure on hp gains. Not sure on exact hp gains off a cat back, but u should be happy with it, and exhaust, IMO, is the best mod you can do to your car. I suggest contacting Summit BEFORE you order the cat back and asking if they can throw some 3 1/2" tips on there for ya, they should be able to do that for ya, if not, then you will hafta buy some 3 1/2" and get someone to cut the 3" off and weld the 3 1/2" back on for ya...good luck!
