I want to know which pipe is the best for the car, and what type of exhust should i put on the car? I want a deep,and loud sound to it.

X pipes are for cars with true dual exhaust. So you can't use those. We already have a Y and I pipe, but to change the sound, you can get bigger pipes for your car, like from a catback.

And you know this because you did the true dual setup? there are several ways to do it, you just have 2 be creative, look how many people spend 600.00+ on an exhaust system i can do the true duals for alot cheaper, you cant tell me i would get less power because you havent personally done this on a 3.8

With a proper setup, it is possible to gain a bit more power with an X pipe setup and bullet mufflers (any brand, not just Dynomax) and turndowns before the axle. Usually it is cheaper than a catback.

You're right, you can do it, but there's not a lot of clearance room. And it's going to cost you about 2x as much money to put on 2x as much piping and 2x as many mufflers, etc.
And I also happen to know that one of our old members did this on his 3.4 and found that the results were negative, and not worth the trouble he put into the project.
But if you want to take the initiative to do it, then by all means go ahead. All I'm saying is that in my opinion you're not going to get results that will justify the extra trouble.-James<br /><br />\'96 3.8L A4 Camaro (SOLD)

Probably not, unless you run smaller (say maybe 2") piping or are running a *lot* of nitrous.
With 2x as much pipe volume for the exhaust to go down, and the bullet mufflers, you'll have very little backpressure and lose more power than the X-pipe is going to compensate for.
I've also read that one of the places that first started doing X-pipes has found that in applications of less than 3" diameter, the X-pipes don't produce strong results. V6s don't get impressive results in the first place with any mods. There is plenty of room to do it. You would want to use piping no larger than 2.25" because of the total amount of piping that the exhaust would be flowing through. It would NOT cost twice as much as a normal catback. Triflow, Borla, etc cost $600+. You can EASILY do an X pipe setup for half that if you cheaped out and did Dynomax bullets. Borla XR-1 racing mufflers would be better. 3.4s are different from 3.8s, you can't base a comparison on ONE car from ONE specific engine. Different engines respond to different mods. 3.8s flow lots of exhaust as it is, I hardly think an X pipe would be overkill as long as it was researched and done correctly.
In John's case he is running a LOT of nitrous. [img]tongue.gif[/img] So the X pipe would have worked well for him. He also has a built motor. Too bad the longtubes he got are f'ed up.
The *old member* must not have known where to look for an X pipe. Dr. Gas sells a complete setup (custom) for around $300-$350. Piping, flanges, crossover, bullets, and turndowns and all hangers are included. www.Drgas.com

I meant vs. having a shop bend it for you, it will cost double.

They are different, yes, but close enough to get a good idea of the result.

I am not looking for power gains, but going for the sound that you can never get from a Y pipe.
I'll eventually have headers, but for now I'm going with an Offroad H into Flow 40 dumps.
Shouldn't cost all that much at all. I'll have to have a shop bend me some connector pipes between the stock manifolds and the H, but that shouldn't cost much at all.<b>« Red <i><a href=\"http://sandman.v8tec.com\" target=\"_blank\">Firebird</a></i> »</b>

I think that one person who did the true dual no longer applies...
It was done over a year ago on a 3.4 -- everyone says they have heard about some guy, and I don't doubt them, but before I backed off the project I would have to see someone do it again & get poor results.
I know this -- I know a lot of 3.8 stangs have true duals, and they sound sweet and are quite fast.
Will it give much gains on an N/A car? Who knows... Will it sound sweet? Yes i am going to run a crapload of nitrous [img]tongue.gif[/img] Yes my drivers side longtube is all fu**** up :( i was planning on running longtubes to 2" x pipe to 2" pipeing then maybe 2.5" bullets back into 2" pipeing with turndowns. im just worried my one header will restrict airfloe since it comes down then goes straight over to the other header almost touching it the passenger header is cool it goes straight back towards the rear of thecar, any suggestions on what i should do about my drivers header? will it restrict airflow enough 2 notice a difference? here is the link 2 the pics of the headers please help
