Okay, i hear an overwhelming cry for the flowmaster 80 series on v6 camaros, so i'm now considering making this my choice (had almost decided on the magnaflow, but no one seems to like them, lol)

But I have a 3.4L '95.. NOT a 3.8,,, is the 80 series still what i should go with? anyone with experience?

Sounds purdy good, like a mellow V8 until you hit the gas a bit more...does it sound the same on a level surface?? Or just a tad tamer??

I still remeber the box: For Firebird/Camaro v6 applications, or something of the like. When i wen to the shop he told me that flowmaster had developed a large muffler in an attempt to get over the odd sounds that the GM v6's make in high rpm's . Go figure, you think what you think but IMO: 80 series is the best sounding muffler ive seen on a 3.8, cant speak for 3.4 because ive never seen one modded. As for doing my homework the proffesional muffler man did it for me, and I trust his conclusion

Agree. For some odd reason, performance exhausts sounds alot better on the 3.4s

You usually shouldn't. (If you like the 80 Series, fine, it doesn't make a difference to me.) The fact of the matter (which I can vouch to from personal experience doing business with about 4 exhaust shops in my area) is that your local exhaust guys will recommend whatever mufflers they stock. Perfect example: Midas will probably tell you their Ravin mufflers can hum tunes if they thought it would get you to buy it. The guys across the street from my work will try to sell you Magnaflow. One of the other guys pushes Flowmasters. Usually though, you won't know what actually sounds best until you try it. And even then, it mostly boils down to personal preference.

yes that's true that certain shops always try to "push" a certain muffler but my source here in Florida is our club sponsor. He specifically cares for F-bodies. Basically any part we want, whether he has it in stock or not, will install it. If he has it great, it's put in NOW. If he doesn't it's shipped next day and I have it on the next day. I had intital problems at my muffler shop but after all the dust settled, I was extremely happy with who I had work on my muffler.

BTW, just shop around and find the muffler shop that's right for you. Don't listen to what they say. Just make sure when you walk through the door your 100% sure of what you want done. :D
