  • Exhaust questions.

Alright guys, I have a 98 3.8 A4 Camaro and I am looking for a cat-back system. I know about the Loudmouth and it seems like a strong competitor. This is a 3 inch system, correct? Would a 2.5 inch be more practical? I dont plan on any major mods, cam at the most but that will be a longggg ways. Future things after this would probally be a whisper lid or something. That is about it. So guys, what would you reccomend? I want something that will basically bolt on with the clamps the first day and then be welded the second day. Please help me out here guys, and if you could be so kind please provide a link as to where to buy it. Thanks!

Thanks, I really dont know what the advantages of 2.5 would be over 3 inchs. Care to elaborate?

the v6 setups are going to be 2.5. most of the v8s are 3in, although some are bigger.

as for which is better is highly debated. i prefer 3 in. i think it sounds better and performs better. right now i have mostly basic mods, and it works great.

the only thing is make sure you upgrade the cat and s-pipe along with it, this will make it all work so much better.

alright so ive been looking to get catback done to my 99 firebird v6. i hear you can make the catback for a v8 fit, but would i have to worry about the piping not fitting the CAT? second thing will any exhaust or intake mods affect any of my 02 sensors, MAF sensor, etc.

also is there any way i can upgrade the throttle body since i have the drive by wire TB???

consider 3 inch system as a conversion....
                      http://home.comcast.net/~grayman99/M...20-install.htm

V6 catbacks retain the stock cat and s pipe (2.25) and transform into 2.5 inch midpip and muffler in port. They bolt up and install VERY quickly with no modding.

a 3" conversion bassed on a v8 catback (94-97 kits) will require a new 3x3 cat and some 94-97 kits come with a S pipe. magnaflow 15620 is one such kit that comes with an s pipe.

                      basic v6 fbody exhaust overview....
