  • free or DIY CAI for '96 Y87 firebird? what's the best CAI?

I've looked around the net a lot for info on air intake mods, and I am unable to find a cheap way (or "free" like the one avaialbe for '98+) to have a cold air intake in my '96 Y87 firebird. The only CAI for a '96 V6 seems to be SLP's unit, but that's $200+ and I was wondering if there's a cheaper way to achieve the same effect? Or is there any other CAI kit available?
Also, I am tempted to go out and get a K&N filter first, but is it correct that I won't be able to use this if and when I get a CAI unit?

and, who makes the best CAI for our V6 F-bodies?

thanks in advance for any help!

look in my sig, there's a link that you might want to try out. don't waste the money on the factory k and n, it doesn't do a darn thing.

Or you can just buy a 3 1/2 inch wide conical k/n (7 inch long) and it will mount up directly where the plastic duct goes into your air box, thats what I did works great. Cost for filter 45$ from summit. Then you lose that nasty restrictive air box, while it's not a "total cold air", it does make a pretty big diff. over stock.
